Valencia forced Game 5 by grabbing an 86-89 victory over Panathinaikos on Friday night at Telekom Center Athens. Despite losing both the first two games at home, the Spanish side bounced back with two straight wins in Greece to bring the playoff series back to Valencia. Following a morale-boosting victory in Game 3, the visitors hit the ground running, with Jean Montero netting 10 first-quarter points for a 15-26 lead after 10 minutes. Valencia maintained a double-digit advantage until the closing stages of the second quarter, when Cedi Osman bagged 10 straight points that cut the deficit to 37-44 at halftime and shifted the momentum.

A tight third quarter saw both defenses up their game before Nunn took over with 8 points in a row for Panathinaikos’s first lead in the last two games, 51-50. Yet, Valencia fought back and took a 56-60 edge into the fourth, where the two teams engaged in a trade of blows that saw the hosts struggle to find their range from deep and the guests protect a narrow advantage to seal a third consecutive victory in Athens this season.

Montero pulled off an extraordinary outing, recording 29 points, 7 rebounds, as many assists and 4 steals. Osman paced Panathinaikos with 26 points and Nunn added 19 in a losing effort.

Khem Birch delivered a monster performance as he racked up 21 points and 13 rebounds to shatter his career highs in scoring and PIR, amassing a 31 index rating in a captivating contest. Birch paced Fenerbahce to a 90-94 overtime win at Zalgiris for a 3-1 overall victory in their playoff series, setting up a clash with Olympiacos Piraeus at the Final Four. Wade Baldwin netted a crucial layup with 1.6 seconds remaining in regulation to secure the extra five minutes, in which Birch was unstoppable as the visitors prevailed in the Zalgirio Arena’s fervent atmosphere.

Talen Horton-Tucker chipped in with 21 points and 6 boards while Baldwin scored 14 and veteran Nicolo Melli added 10 and 9 boards, scoring a vital three-pointer at the start of overtime which saw Fenerbahce force the final twist in a riveting contest that went down to the wire. Sylvain Francisco, who struggled with shooting from deep throughout the series, finally found his mojo as he led the home team on 23 points and 11 assists, as Azoulas Tubelis had another big night on 16 and 5 boards. Edgaras Ulanovas scored 15 and Dustin Sleva netted 11, but Zalgiris came up agonizingly short in its bid to force Game 5

Real Madrid booked its place at the Final Four with an 81-87 road victory over Hapoel, completing a 3-1 series victory. Hapoel jumped out to an early lead behind 10 points in 4 minutes from Dan Oturu, but Mario Hezonja and Theo Maledon pulled Real ahead, 21-23, at the end of the first. The visitor completed a 0-17 run for a double-digit distance early in the second period, and three more Oturu scores couldn’t prevent Real from taking a 38-48 lead into the break.

That margin remained steady as the third quarter was largely dominated by defenses, ending at 53-63. Vasilije Micic and Oturu powered an 8-0 fourth quarter surge to give Hapoel hope, but Real always had enough offense to protect its lead.

Usman Garuba paced the winning team with 16 points, with Maledon and Hezonja adding 14 apiece. Facundo Campazzo paired 11 points with 7 assists, and Trey Lyles chipped in with 10. The tireless Oturu inspired Hapoel all night, finishing with a career-high 29 points, 7 rebounds and a joint personal best 5 blocked shots. Another standout for the hosts was Micic, who threatened a triple-double with 18 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds. But that wasn’t enough to stop Real, which returns to the Final Four for the seventh time in nine seasons, while Hapoel can hold its head high as a successful EuroLeague debut campaign comes to an end.
