Milan defeated ASVEL in a hard-fought contest, escaping a late ASVEL rally to earn the 76-77 victory. With their third consecutive win, Peppe Poeta’s men improved to a winning record of 14-13, while lowly ASVEL falls to 7-20.
Though ASVEL made the brighter start and earned a lead in the opening period through solid team offense, its Italian opponent pushed back promptly, locking in at both ends to take a five-point advantage into halftime. They only widened the gap in the third, with Milan scoring as a unit to make it a double-digit differential. That didn’t stop ASVEL from taking it to the wire, hustling hard and coming to within a point with just seconds remaining, but ultimately coming up short in its final offense.
Marko Guduric played the starring role for Milan, adding 7 assists to his 18-point scoring performance. Quinn Ellis impressed also, recording 13 points and 5 boards to help his edge his team over the line. Highlighting the strong team performance, Armoni Brooks and Zach LeDay also scored in double digits on the night. Braian Angola led ASVEL in scoring with 23 points.
