ABOUT UEFA
UEFA stands for the Union of European Football Associations. It is the governing body for football (soccer) in Europe and is responsible for organizing and overseeing various football competitions at both the national and club levels. UEFA was founded in 1954 and currently has 55 member associations.
UEFA’s main role is to promote and develop football within Europe, ensure the integrity of the sport, and regulate competitions. It is responsible for organizing major international tournaments such as the UEFA European Championship (commonly known as the Euro) for national teams, the UEFA Nations League, and the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League for club teams.
UEFA sets the rules and regulations for these competitions, including qualification criteria, match schedules, and financial distribution. It also works to protect the interests of European football, promote fair play, and support the development of grassroots football across the continent.
Additionally, UEFA plays a significant role in representing European football on the global stage and maintains relationships with other football governing bodies, such as FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), which is the international governing body for football.
